Dear Colleagues,
Government has recently issued several notices regarding the operation of business and curfew guidelines in the Territory. It is very important that these be strictly adhered to, particularly, please note the following:
- Starting tomorrow, Wednesday 26th August, people will be free to leave their homes from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Government is asking, however, that you limit this as much as possible and only do so to access essential services and activities.
- People doing critical services can go to their offices without a pass within the allotted hours of 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Offices should nonetheless remain closed and other staff, not engaged in critical services, should continue to work remotely.
- The Deputy Governor’s Office will provide apostille services only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until further notice.
- The Financial Services Commission will continue to provide critical services and will shortly issue guidelines regarding how these services will be rendered.
- The Government’s Customer Service Centre will remain open until 5:00 p.m. daily. Persons are therefore asked to call 468-3701 with questions. The Centre will liaise directly with Ministries to facilitate responses to questions.
- Couriers and other supporting services will be allowed to operate as permissible.
- Businesses should make the necessary adjustments to conduct business daily within this time-frame of 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., allowing sufficient time for employees dealing with the preparation, collection and dispatch of apostille and related services to arrive safely at their homes before the curfew begins at 5:00 p.m.
- There will be a hard curfew each day from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During that time, you will be required to stay in your homes or in the confines of your yard.
- No passes will be issued, except for exceptional circumstances when people are required to work after the 5:00 p.m. curfew.
- Companies seeking passes for employees should submit a list of essential workers to the Health Emergency Operations Centre at ministryofhealth@gov.vg
- All requests will be validated and electronic passes will be issued by the Deputy Governor’s Office and the list will be shared with the Police.
We encourage you to please continue to adhere to the guidelines and established protocols – sanitize, wear masks and maintain social distancing rules, and, of course, abide by the curfew. We ask industry body heads to circulate with their memberships to ensure wider circulation.
Be safe and healthy!
Kind regards,
