Dear Attendee,
We continue to monitor the latest updates on the COVID-19 risk in the city of Miami, Florida. The safety of all of our attendees, speakers, moderators, sponsors, and partners continues to remain the foremost concern of the conference team.
Recently you received a communication which indicated our intention to proceed with the conference given the low level of risk noted by Federal, State, and County officials. Additionally, we gave each of you the opportunity for feedback on the decision to continue as scheduled. Subsequent to this communication, there have been significant developments in the area of official announcements. These have included:
- The announcement by the WHO that governments globally are now dealing with a Pandemic for COVID-19.
- The President of the United States' oval office address indicating that the Federal government will be entering a new response phase that will include instituting a 30 day flight ban to/from affected countries including Europe by Non-US persons.
- Miami Dade County’s mayor announcing his intention to declare a state of Emergency today so his office can more effectively coordinate and respond to the COVID-19 threat.
- Several Attendee countries announcing their first COVID-19 cases or intention to severely restrict travel into and out of the country with severe quarantine procedures.
While the facts above may at first seem alarming, at the core of each official briefing has been an overarching mission by government officials to keep each citizen and guest informed and safe.
Understanding the spirit and mission of the recent announcements, the CEO has taken the responsibility to revisit and make the best decision around the conference that guarantees the health and safety of 100% of the conference attendees. Therefore, It is in this spirit of health and safety, along with our responsibility to host and return each of you to your families and communities safely, that the CEO, Board, Management and Conference Team have decided to reschedule the 2020 AMLFC and ComplianceAid conference.
As mentioned in yesterday's communication, all registrations will be transferred to the new conference date in September without refund; our team will continue to be transparent and forthcoming as new information becomes available. Additionally, we will proactively work with the Conrad Miami Hotel in regards to the transfer of all rooms linked to ComplianceAid's or AMLFC’s booking code; the goal being that no additional action will be required for confirmed reservations by Attendees.
In closing, the team thanks each of you for supporting the ComplianceAid and AMLFC conference; We have long-standing relationships directly and indirectly with most of you and view each of you as a valued extended member of our conference family. As such, we urge you all to take your government’s advisories seriously and to follow all key guidelines designed to keep you and your family safe.
Kindest regards,
Michelle N Martin, CAMLFC, CAMS, MACC, ACA
